LAST DAY

Day 7.  Like I mentioned in my previous post, I wanted to have maximum comfort in the plane so I just wore a white shirt and jeans and jazzed it up with a this sleeveless parka-like vest, hat and scarf. Who says chic-ness and comfort don't go hand in hand?

Beret #4. Wild leopard print. Raar =)) This is one of my latest creations this summer. I shall post my other 'masterpieces' next time.

I love this shot :O I look like a chic martian in Mars or something.

The 7-Eleven stores there.. are very. very. awesome. You'd find wonders in that store! These stockings and yummy treats, for instance. :) I love their milk there. Soo good. It has a certain creamy flavor.. mmm..

The wonderful world of Taiwan DAY 5

A lot of the pieces I brought for the trip were re-worn over and over again - namely shoes and accesories. That's coz I am absolutely certain there's gonna be a lot of shopping done so I need as much space in my luggage as possible. Imagine if I brought different pieces for each and every outfit.. I saved a lot of space. :) But we still ended up having our luggage overweight by 20 pounds in total. :P Whoops.

Horizontal stripes ain't so bad as they say...

my new hat =)) The sun was merciless again that day. My beret could not fully protect my hair and face so I had to buy a cap. Luckily, I found one that suits my outfit. This picture was taken at the bullet train station while waiting for the train to arrive. I was obviously bored. :P See the magazines I was holding. I bought 3 that day. I couldn't resist. Their magazines are soo cool.. with all the japanese fashion in them.

Hello new shoes. :) This pair is one of the things I managed to find during panic-buying at Sogo. :P

See, my stockings are a bit torn. They used to be my sister's. She wore them as part of her bank teller uniform. :) They're mine now since she's living a glamorous married life. :) aaah the perks of having an older sister :)

I found this random picture of me before junior prom. Just thought of posting it here as a short intermission for the entries on my Taiwan adventure :P I remember I had to do my make-up myself coz the salon was fail. hahaha good times..

The wonderful world of Taiwan DAY 3

Me and my picture day smile. :\

This shot is fail because 1.) there is a random head beside me. creepy. 2.) my eyes are half close. :I  But this picture has its perks. It's pretty.. just ignore the ones stated above :p

Temples always have sky-high stairs. I wonder how the monks go through with 'em everyday. They must be macho under those thick robes.

The wonderful world of Taiwan Day 2

Here we go again with the berets. Just so you'd know, I wore them throughout the whole trip. :P This piece is my first <3 I made it last last year if I remember correctly. It wasn't as nice before - the lining was bad, stitches were zigzagged when it's supposed to be straight, etc.. but I fixed it, tore it to pieces and sewed it again and now it's all better. :) I felt like a doctor doing surgery.

Overexposed shots. . but it has a very cool and flattering effect :)

I took a risk with this outfit. I think the plaid socks over the gray tights is a bit unusual but the hell with it.

This is me. =)) I'm not a fan of visiting too many Buddhist temples but I like to observe their intricate designs and interesting architectural designs though.

Close up!

My vintage-style necklaces and bangles tied together with a polka dot ribbon to avoid the ding-ding noise.

The wonderful world of Taiwan DAY 1

I absolutely love berets. It's my signiature look. In school events where we don't have to wear our uniforms, I always have a hat on my head complementing my hair - usually berets such as that of in the pictures you see here taken by my dad.

*For more stuff about berets, visit my tumblr. I don't think you can isolate an entry there though but don't worry. You'll find that post as well as other cool stuff coz I didn't post much there :)) I transferred here instead.

At the Flora Expo. We were literally bathing in the sun's merciless rays completely surrounded by thousands of visitors. Our energies were too drained to explore every nook and cranny of the place, also since we were sort of exhausted from the flight and lack of sleep. We did see some interesting sights though. :)

I didn't dress up much that day coz I didn't think we would do anything but arrive at the airport and go to the hotel. I was just focusing on being comfortable in the congested plane as much as possible without the need of being all cautious of my clothing or anything.

Close up!

Photography class by Jim Paredes

Last April 16, 2011, I attended the basic photography class by Jim Paredes from the Apo Hiking Society - a band famous here in the Philippines. I used my dad's Sony DSLR camera for the shoots and we instantly became friends. I say, we had that camera for a while now but that was just the time I really learned how to use it. haha. So anyways, they even hired a model for us noobs to take photos of. Her name's MC. She's like a brunette barbie. :O So here are some of the photos I took:

In the garden..

It's quite challenging to take good shots with all these people around. I wonder how MC must have felt.. with us "paparazzi" sticking lenses to her face. aah the glamorous life of a model.. Did I mention she's already a mom? And she's still that slim and pretty!

At his studio..

That's me holding my certificate of completion beside the great Mr. Jim Paredes. ohohoho I have his autograph in it. =))

I remember the time when my mom told me about her good ol' days as a teenager. She used to have a huge huge crush on him. She said she wrote letters to him but never sending them, always starting with the phrase "Dear Jimmy.......". Feeling close much?Cute :)

Superman's fashion sense

One afternoon, I was thinking about those people who make a difference. Those people are usually doctors, lawyers, founders, corporate owners and the like. They’re the ones who evidently contribute to the good of society. Then I found myself saying, what about me? I want to imprint my own legacy too but I’m quite decided that I will pursue a fashion career in the future. What does fashion have to do with the world’s sake? Sure I can do charities, advocacies and all but I’m not even sure if I will have the time and energy to balance everything in my life. I have other ambitions, dreams and “quotas” as well so I can’t always try making the world a better place.

Then an answer popped up. Fashion is not as superficial as it seems after all. A lot of successful personas make a change, yes, but who dresses them? The fashion people behind the scenes, that’s who! Think of it this way. If they look like trash bags, would the public take them seriously? If they wear wooden barrels as clothes, would anyone even bother hearing what they have to say? Would they even be where they are right now? No, no and no. The world is beautiful and yet cruel. Sure, physical appearance is not everything but it is a something. That’s just how we all are. We always have to dress the part. And that’s where fashion jumps in the picture.

From weavers, seamstresses, aspirants to owners of luxurious couture houses and icons like Chanel, we fashion folk are like part of a production crew. The show will not be complete without us.

So you see, fashion is definitely not useless. It does make an impact but most just don’t realize it.
